I’m a compassionate, knowledgeable yoga teacher with a particular interest in working with people for whom yoga is not easily accessible—be it due to physical, emotional, or economic limitations. I infuse every class with a theme that encourages self-inquiry, humor, and encouragement, with the goal of physical, mental, and emotional alignment.
My career as a financial journalist requires me to be a good listener, curious question-asker, keen observer, and efficient synthesizer of information—all in the service of breaking down complex topics to educate and entertain. I draw on all these skills as a yoga teacher and yoga therapist. I am honored to have found a teaching (and actual) home in Jackson Heights, Queens.
My training
I have specialty certifications in:
• Yoga Therapy: I am a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, thanks to more than 900 hours of education and training with Prema Yoga Institute.
• Breath Coach: Certified in breathing techniques for all manner of conditions, including recovery from Covid-19.
• Restorative Yoga, Relax & Renew Levels 1 and 2 with Judith Hanson Lasater, which built on my earlier Restorative Levels 1 and 2 from Laughing Lotus
• Experiential Anatomy and Pranayama with Judith Hanson Lasater
• Yoga for Back Care and Yoga for Osteoporosis, techniques for treatment and prevention, from Dr. Loren Fishman
• Prenatal Yoga, with Jennifer Pettit at Vira Yoga
I have spent years studying anatomy, biomechanics, somatics, and how the mind and body operate as one with nationally recognized teachers, doctors, and physical therapists, such as Dr. Loren Fishman, Ellen Saltonstall, Judith Hanson Lasater, Dr. Chris Walling, and Dr. Ray Long.
I began my training with Rudrani Farbman, Jackie Prete, and Julia Pearring through the World Yoga Center. I'm deeply grateful to all my teachers, and am committed to continuing my study.
